There's a secret hiding behind a lot of our favorite nostalgic pastime treats: industrial seed oils, artificial flavors, petroleum-derived preservatives, and too much sugar. (We know, we make cotton candy…) That's why we started The Jolly Sheep! Ingredients: Water, high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial flavor, artificial color (Red #40, Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Blue #1), citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate (preservatives), propylene glycol.
Toppings: maraschino cherries (Red #40, sulfur dioxide), sweetened condensed milk made with HFCS.
Cart: Tropical truck, carnival kitsch — won't fit your event site.

Site Requirements
POWER
Our shaved ice machines for single cart events don't require any power from your end, our cart is battery powered for shaved ice!
If you have an event of several hundred people, we may require larger shaved ice machines that require a standard outlet within 100 ft. of the service area. We provide extension cords.
SPACE, CLEARANCE, LOAD IN/OUT
See the image to the right for reference.
Setup area: With umbrella we recommend at least an 8 x 8 ft. area, with at least 5 ft. distance from any rear walls.
Height: The umbrella requires 10 ft. of vertical clearance.
Width: Measure your spaces to ensure we can reach your intended service area. Our carts vary in size and need from 30 to 36” width to pass.
Stairs/Hard to reach areas: We may need to charge a service fee for additional labor if the cart needs to be carried up long flights of stairs. Best discussed during the booking process.

No. Our shaved ice carts are self-powered, which is why they work for venues where most caterers can't go — rooftops, beaches, gardens, and indoor spaces without dedicated outlets. Setup is plug-free.

A single cart serves about 60–80 bowls per hour. For larger events, our production setup with a team of 5–6 pushes up to 170 bowls per hour. We scale carts and staffing to your guest count.

Five core syrups — pineapple, blueberry, strawberry, watermelon, and mango — plus 30+ custom flavors from our cotton candy library, including rose petal, lychee, hibiscus, and lavender. All made in-house with organic cane sugar and plant-based color from real fruits and vegetables.

All syrups and shaved ice are vegan, gluten-free, and made with organic ingredients. Our snow cap (Hawaiian-style condensed milk drizzle) is the one dairy option — easy to skip for vegan events, or replace with coconut condensed milk.

Yes. Past custom syrups include rose petal (Persian-style), lavender, hibiscus, and brand-color-matched syrups for activations. Custom flavor development typically takes 2–3 weeks of lead time. Email hello@thejollysheep.com to start.

Technically yes. We can scoop our fluffy ice into a ball and serve it with syrup — same product, just no paper cone (we use compostable bowls). The texture will still be finer than a true crushed-ice snow cone, but if your guests ask for one, we'll know what they mean.

Do you say carne asada with a Spanish accent? Both work — "shave ice" is Hawaiian, "shaved ice" is mainland. Call it whatever feels right.

Yes. Our compact carts fit through standard 3-foot doorways and operate cleanly indoors — no exhaust, no propane, no on-site power required. One thing to plan around: our machines are loud while actively serving customers (similar to a commercial blender), so we recommend staging the cart away from ceremonies, speeches, or live performances. Works perfectly in lobbies, mezzanines, store activations, and break-out areas.

Soft and flaky. We upgraded our machines in 2023 to produce fluffy, snow-like ice that absorbs syrup evenly and stays frozen longer in the bowl — none of the icy crunch of older snow-cone setups.
