Frequently Asked Questions
-
Carts are our signature, but we also have bars, stations, and extension tables in similar styling — sized to fit smaller areas or larger venues. We'll recommend the right setup for your space and guest count when you request a quote.
-
Yes, we have multiple carts and resources to bring more than one catering service to your event. Some pairings share a single cart and staff; others need separate setups. We'll lay out the options when we quote.
-
Yes, equipment-only rentals are available case by case. Email hello@thejollysheep.com with your dates, location, and which service you need.
-
No painting — but we offer full vinyl wraps and decals across four customization tiers, from vinyl panels to fully wrapped carts with custom umbrellas. See the customization sections above.
-
Each cart is about 3' wide by 5' long. With the umbrella up, plan for 9'8" of vertical clearance and 9×9 ft area. Doorways and hallways need 30-36" of clearance — the exact requirement depends on which cart we bring for your event.
-
Most do. Cotton candy and popcorn need a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit (about 1100W). Slushies run on any standard outlet. Shaved ice is self-powered. Churros and fries are outdoor-only with our propane setup. We confirm specifics with your venue before the event. Electrical power should be within 50 to 100 feet of the service location. We can provide extension cords.
-
Yes to all three with the right access. Elevators and hallways need to clear our cart dimensions, and long flights of stairs may require additional labor — confirmed in your quote based on venue details.
-
A flat setup area, access to adequate power (for most services), and a clear path from our vehicle to the setup spot. Van clearance for loading docks and parking structures should be at least 7’ high. Please advise us if it is lower so we can plan for a smaller delivery vehicle.
-
Yes — $2M/$4M general liability with a $3M umbrella ($5M per-claim, $7M aggregate), plus $1M auto and $1M workers' comp on separate policies. We issue ACORD 25 certificates with additional insured language on request.
-
Yes — LA County Department of Public Health permit, current and on file. Please note that some events will require a Temporary Food Facility (TFF) permit, which is different from our permanent permit. The cost of those event-specific permits will be added to the quote if you require us to submit and process them. We can also help advise on the TFF if the event is handling the permit on our behalf. Some events may require us to use an enclosed tent instead of our carts. Please inquire with the health department in your jurisdiction.
-
Mainly Los Angeles and Orange County, plus Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Santa Barbara on occasion. We also do nationwide brand activations and corporate tours depending on scope and budget.
-
Two hours. Shorter events are welcome — we still charge the two-hour minimum since most of the cost is setup, staffing, and breakdown regardless of the service window.
-
Our busiest seasons are Oct-Dec and Mar-Jun. We recommend booking at least 3-4 weeks in advance to secure a date during busy season. We do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings — typically a 1-2 week minimum, depending on how complex your event setup is.
-
Cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and ACH. Corporate clients may request Net 30 terms.
-
50% deposit due to reserve your date; the remaining 50% is due the day before the event. Net 30 available for corporate clients on request.
-
Not if your event is within 30 miles of Norwalk. Past that, a per-mile fee applies but scales gently: if you're just over 30 miles, you'll barely see an increase on your quote at all. Long-distance routes past 50 miles into Ventura or Santa Barbara include an additional surcharge for the extended drive. Our quoter shows the exact fee from your event zip code.
-
Our rates already include taxes — they won’t be added above what you’re quoted. California taxes catered food and beverage. Packaged favors (take-home cotton candy, popcorn bags, and similar) are not taxed under California's food-for-home-consumption rules.
-
We're the production company executing the tour directly — we own the equipment, train the staff, and run every event in-house. Branding is in-house too: custom labels, vinyls, and design services, so your look is built and produced under one roof and stays consistent at every stop. The result is one team, one contract, and one accountable producer from coast to coast — full control of sourcing, food safety, design, and brand execution, with no handoffs between regions. We work both directly with brands and alongside agency partners, so either way the execution is ours.
